Amidst the buzz surrounding Rahul Gandhi’s potential candidacy in Amethi, Union Minister Smriti Irani has taken a dig at the Congress leader, igniting further political discourse in the region.
Irani, who had unseated Gandhi from Amethi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, mocked him during a recent rally. She quipped, “Jijaji Ki Nazar,” hinting at the uncertainty over Gandhi’s next move, especially after reports surfaced suggesting he might contest from the constituency once again.
The speculation gained momentum after cleaning and renovation work began at Rahul’s Amethi house. The move sparked discussions about his potential return to the constituency, which he had represented for three consecutive terms before losing to Irani.
In her address, Irani highlighted development initiatives in Amethi and urged voters to focus on progress rather than divisive tactics. She cautioned against falling for any attempts to create division, particularly targeting Gandhi’s strategy.
This isn’t the first time Irani has taken aim at Gandhi over his Amethi seat. Recently, she warned voters against what she termed as “Rahul’s divisionary tactics,” indicating a charged electoral battle if Gandhi decides to contest from the constituency.
The political tussle in Amethi has intensified with each passing day, with various media outlets reporting on the ongoing discourse. Rahul Gandhi, however, has remained elusive on confirming his candidacy, responding to questions with remarks like, “I will do whatever the party decides.”
With the Lok Sabha elections drawing closer, the anticipation surrounding Rahul Gandhi’s decision continues to grip Amethi, a constituency that has been a political hotbed for decades. As the election drama unfolds, all eyes are on whether Gandhi will indeed make a comeback to the political battleground of Amethi
