Venkaiah Naidu and Usha Uthup Conferred with Padma Awards

New Delhi – In a prestigious ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and renowned singer Usha Uthup were honored with Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan respectively, among other distinguished individuals receiving the prestigious Padma awards.

The Padma awards, conferred annually on the eve of Republic Day, are one of the highest civilian honors in India, recognizing individuals for their exceptional contributions in various fields such as art, literature, public affairs, science, and sports.

President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards to the recipients, acknowledging their outstanding achievements and contributions to the nation.

Venkaiah Naidu, a veteran politician and former Vice President, was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in public affairs. Known for his unwavering commitment to public service, Naidu has had a significant impact on Indian politics for several decades.

Expressing his gratitude, Naidu said, “I am deeply honored to receive this recognition. It is a testament to the tireless efforts of countless individuals who have supported me throughout my journey in public life.”

Another notable recipient, Usha Uthup, was awarded the Padma Bhushan in the field of music. With her distinctive voice and versatile singing style, Uthup has been a prominent figure in the Indian music industry for over five decades.

“I am overwhelmed and grateful to receive this honor. Music has been my passion, and I am humbled to be recognized for my contributions to the art form,” said Usha Uthup.

Among other recipients were actor Mithun Chakraborty, who received the Padma Bhushan, and Ram Naik, former Governor of Uttar Pradesh, who was honored with the Padma Bhushan for his exemplary service.

The ceremony also saw the presentation of Padma Shri awards to several individuals across various fields, including art, literature, and social work.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to congratulate the recipients, praising their dedication and positive impact on society. Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed his joy at hosting the exemplary individuals who were conferred with the Padma Awards.

The Padma Awards hold great significance in India, recognizing the efforts of individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the nation’s growth and development across diverse fields.
