Dubai, February 15, 2024: At the prestigious World Government Summit (WGS) in Dubai, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan graced the stage with his presence, captivating audiences with his candid revelations about his career, Hollywood offers, and more.
In a session that delved into various aspects of his life and career, Shah Rukh Khan, fondly known as SRK, addressed the topic that has intrigued many – his stance on working in Hollywood.
When questioned about his apparent absence from Hollywood films, Khan responded with honesty and clarity. “I have said this honestly but no one believes it, so I am gonna say it again. No one has ever offered me any work crossover of substance,” he stated, dispelling any rumors about turning down Hollywood projects due to lack of interest.
Despite acknowledging conversations with individuals from the Western film industry, Khan emphasized the absence of concrete offers that align with his vision. “I may have had conversations with people. I know a lot of lovely people from the West, English and American film industry, but nobody has offered me any good work,” he clarified.
The Bollywood icon also shed light on a notable exception – an offer he received for Danny Boyle’s acclaimed film “Slumdog Millionaire.” However, Khan revealed that he turned down the role due to ethical concerns surrounding the character’s actions as a game show host, which conflicted with his own role as a television personality at the time. “I found that the guy in the film is cheating as a host. I felt very strange that I was hosting a show and I was cheating in the film,” he explained.
Despite the lack of Hollywood ventures, Khan expressed humility and a desire for self-improvement. “I think I still have to learn how to be able to deliver to an audience that likes me. And instead of spreading myself too thin. And of course, if you are not offered a job, how do you take it? I have never been offered a film in Hollywood or England,” he remarked, highlighting his commitment to delivering quality content to his audience.
The session culminated with Khan’s signature pose, a gesture that received thunderous applause from the audience, further solidifying his status as a global icon.
