In a cinematic turnaround, Prabhas has bounced back with a vengeance following the setback of his previous film, Adipurush. His latest cinematic venture, Salaar Part One: Ceasefire, hit theaters on December 22, marking a triumphant return for the South Indian superstar. Despite tough competition from Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki, Salaar has not only held its ground but has emerged as a box office powerhouse.
According to the latest reports from Sacnilk.com, Salaar has raked in a staggering Rs 95 crore nett on its opening day, including earnings from all dubbed versions. In contrast, SRK’s Dunki managed to secure only Rs 29.2 crore on its Day 1, despite having a head start with an earlier release.
The regional breakdown of Salaar’s collections showcases its dominance in various Southern Indian markets:
- Andhra Pradesh/Telangana: Rs 70 crore
- Karnataka: Rs 12 crore
- Kerala: Rs 5 crore
- Tamil Nadu: Rs 4.5 crore
- Rest of India: Rs 20.5 crore
Notably, the Telugu version of Salaar achieved an impressive 88.93 percent occupancy on its opening day, with substantial contributions from night shows.
Directed by Prashant Neel, the creative force behind the immensely successful KGF franchise, Salaar features a stellar cast including Shruti Haasan, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Jagapati Babu alongside Prabhas.
The anticipation and frenzy surrounding Salaar prompted the Telangana government to grant special permissions, allowing early screenings as early as 1 am. Furthermore, the government also approved a ticket fee hike, a testament to the immense popularity of the film.
