Mumbai Indians Captain Hardik Pandya Fined INR 24 Lakh for Slow Over-Rate

New Delhi, May 1, 2024Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya has been fined INR 24 lakh due to his team’s second slow over-rate infringement in the Indian Premier League clash against Lucknow Super Giants.

The match, held at the Ekana Stadium, witnessed MI succumb to a four-wicket defeat in a thrilling encounter.

The IPL issued a statement, emphasizing the penalty imposed on Hardik Pandya. “Mr. Hardik Pandya, Captain of Mumbai Indians, has been penalized for his team’s tardy over-rate during Match 48 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants on April 30, 2024.”

“This was the second such offense by Pandya’s team this season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct regarding minimum over-rate violations. He was fined INR 24 Lac,” the statement added.

In addition to Pandya, the remaining members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, faced fines of either INR 6 Lac or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever was lower.

Slow over-rate has been a concern for teams throughout the tournament, and the IPL governing body has been stringent in enforcing penalties to ensure timely completion of matches.

Mumbai Indians will be looking to rectify their over-rate issues in the upcoming matches to avoid further fines and maintain their position in the IPL points table
