🔥 Lallantop to Shut Down After AajTak?

The Great Fall of Leftist Media in Bharat and the Rise of Nationalist Journalism

📉 The Decline of India Today Group: A House Divided

The once-dominant India Today Group, which controlled a vast share of Bharat’s news space for decades, now finds itself in troubled waters. Its flagship channels—AajTak, Lallantop, and India Today English—are facing an existential crisis. Despite high-profile anchors, sophisticated studios, and deep-rooted political connections, the group’s influence is declining at a shocking pace.

A recent nosedive in Lallantop‘s YouTube viewership triggered speculation about its future. What once seemed like an unstoppable youth-centric news brand has now started crumbling under the weight of its own ideological rigidity and misalignment with Bharat’s evolving cultural consciousness.

🔥 Lallantop to Shut Down After AajTak?

🧠 The Leftist Virus Within the Institute

Most of the anchors and content creators of Lallantop, including its face Saurabh Dwivedi, hail from institutions like IIMC (Indian Institute of Mass Communication). Over time, such institutions, though government-run, became breeding grounds for a left-liberal worldview. Many of their alumni end up justifying Mughal rule, glorifying invaders like Aurangzeb, and openly providing platforms to controversial intellectuals like Ram Puniyani or Audrey Truschke.

Instead of reflecting the spirit of Sanatan Bharat, these channels often lean on foreign narratives and distort historical facts. Such storytelling worked for a time—but not anymore.

📺 The TRP Trap and the Rajdeep Factor

The inclusion of Rajdeep Sardesai has been both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, mocking his dramatic takes gets traction. On the other hand, his credibility remains tarnished. From questionable interviews to controversial personal admissions (such as getting circumcised for safety, as stated in his own book), he symbolizes the ideological confusion of liberal media.

Despite the efforts of Saurabh Dwivedi to capitalize on Rajdeep’s notoriety, even strategic appearances couldn’t save the crumbling numbers.

🚪 Exit of Prominent Anchors: The Real Earthquake

In recent months, three of India Today’s biggest names have walked out:

  1. Shiv Aroor

  2. Rahul Kanwal

  3. Sudhir Chaudhary

While Shiv and Rahul were the English-speaking faces of India Today’s political analysis, Sudhir Chaudhary was brought in from Zee News with a staggering salary package, reportedly ₹12–15 crore annually.

Despite his successful 9 PM prime-time show, even Sudhir couldn’t withstand the internal dynamics. He left for Doordarshan, where a new era of fact-driven, nationalist journalism—led by Ashok Shrivastav and Prakhar Shrivastav—is reshaping the narrative.

📢 The Public Frustration of Anjana Om Kashyap

The lone woman face still holding the fort, Anjana Om Kashyap, publicly voiced her dissatisfaction with the management. Her objections stemmed from the frequent appearance of Congress spokespersons on her show despite repeated warnings.

Her remarks hinted at a deep rift between anchors and management. With declining support and rising pressure, her future at the network also seems uncertain. If she leaves, only Gaurav Sawant, a relatively nationalist voice, remains. But for how long?

📉 Losing the Race: India Today vs Republic

In the English news space, Republic TV has long overtaken India Today. Even in Hindi, Republic Bharat is now a powerful competitor to AajTak. The nationalist narrative is finding far deeper resonance with Bharat’s public than elite pseudo-secularism.

When Arun Puri, Chairman of India Today Group, invited PM Narendra Modi to the 2023 India Today Conclave, he practically pleaded for more access. Modi’s response was clinical—clear indication that the Prime Minister had little trust in the old media guard. It was a reality check for a group that had once dominated every political corridor.

⚠️ The Congress Angle, Internal Politics & “Samsad Pati”

Internal political favoritism and Congress appeasement further weakened the group. A classic case was Alok Sharma, who was removed after criticizing the inefficiency of Punjab Congress President Raja Warring. His removal signaled that truth had no space when it threatened political allegiances.

Then there’s Rajdeep Sardesai, referred to sarcastically as “Samsad Pati” (MP’s husband), who allegedly gained influence through strategic marriages and loyalties. His early days at NDTV were reportedly bolstered by access to Doordarshan equipment—a sign of cronyism and favoritism that set the tone for decades of corrupt media practices.

🛕 The Rise of Doordarshan: Return of Factual Journalism

The real twist in this media drama is Doordarshan’s surprising resurgence. Anchors like Ashok Shrivastav are challenging the status quo with balanced, fact-based journalism that doesn’t shy away from questioning either the ruling party or the opposition.

This neutral, Bharat-centric journalism is winning public trust—unlike the drama-driven, agenda-loaded narratives of channels like AajTak and Lallantop.

📊 Why Leftist Media is Failing: Key Takeaways

  • Disconnected from Bharat’s cultural roots: Romanticizing Mughals and Islamists while mocking Sanatan Dharma has cost them public faith.

  • Hyper-urban elitism: Ignoring Bharat’s real concerns, values, and aspirations.

  • Overexposure and internal bias: Anchors and editors pushing personal agendas instead of truth.

  • Shift in public mindset: Bharat is no longer silent. Viewers now demand Bharatiya journalism, not foreign-funded activism.

🔮 What Lies Ahead?

The fall of Lallantop and the mass resignation of major anchors indicate the decline of an era. As nationalist, fact-based platforms like Doordarshan, Republic, and newer digital outfits rise, Bharat’s media ecosystem is entering a new Dharmic Renaissance.

This is not just about TRPs or resignations. It is about reclaiming Bharat’s media narrative. It is about replacing propaganda with truth. And it is about restoring integrity to journalism in the land of the Vedas, Upanishads, and Ramayana.
