Getting Started – Google Maps
There may be two situations, either your business would be already listed in Google Maps or you need to place it if it isnтАЩt there. So letтАЩs learn how to accomplish the task.
Step 1: Open Google Maps and simply click on the Menu tab at the top left corner.
Step 2: There will be a list of several options, find and click on the тАЬAdd a missing placeтАЭ link at the bottom.
Step 3: A box at the left corner will pop up over the map containing all the detailsтАЩ field тАЬNameтАЭ, тАЬAddressтАЭ, тАЬCategoryтАЭ and more.
Step 4: Drag the map marker at your businessтАЩs location and click on the тАЬsubmitтАЭ button.
You will receive an e-mail from Google once your listing is published; usually, it happens immediately. Editing information about existing places takes a longer time.
Note: You can anytime claim your business so that no one can make changes to your information. Simply open your business and click on тАЬClaim this BusinessтАЭ.
Final Step: It will take you on a page that says to send a verification postcard at your location. Once you have that CODE, simply login to тАЬGoogle My BusinessтАЭ, select your Business and enter the code.
Getting Started тАУ Bing Places
Publishing your business on Bing Places/Maps doesnтАЩt allow a simple dashboard on their map itself. So you need to first login to тАЬBing Places for BusinessтАЭ
Step 1: Go to the dashboard and click on тАЬAdd new BusinessтАЭ.
Step 2: Now you need to search for your Business first, just follow the steps.
Step 3: Click on the тАЬMy business is not listedтАЭ button below.
Step 4: Now fill in each type of detail section one by one. Place the Map Pin at your physical location.
Step 5: It will now ask to send you the Postcard. Once you get it, open Bing Places for Business and enter the code.
In Bing Places there is also a nice option of description, fill it well to make your possible customers attracted.
Ranking high in Local Packs!
There are limitations in manipulating local rankings in some circumstances. If you are 1km far from a place called тАЬDurga FoodsтАЭ and search for тАЬrestaurants near meтАЭ then тАЬDurga FoodsтАЭ will be ranked above a place called тАЬMakhan FoodsтАЭ which is 2km far. Even тАЬMakhan FoodsтАЭ have much more links and citations than тАЬDurga FoodsтАЭ, it canтАЩt rank high for obvious reasons.
