The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified its stance against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, alleging his direct involvement in the Delhi liquor policy scam. The ED has accused Kejriwal of being the “kingpin” of the scam, claiming that he actively participated in the conspiracy and tampered with evidence related to the case.

ED Alleges Arvind Kejriwal as "Kingpin" of Delhi Liquor Scam, Claims Involvement in Conspiracy

In a recent affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, the ED countered Kejriwal’s plea against his arrest in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. The agency asserted that over 170 mobile phones were destroyed during the scam period, pointing to significant evidence tampering. This destruction of evidence, according to the ED, is a primary reason for Kejriwal’s arrest.

The affidavit further alleges that Kejriwal, along with his ministers and AAP leaders, worked in collusion to facilitate the excise scam. The ED claims that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was a major beneficiary of the proceeds of the crime generated in the scam, and the money was allegedly used for electoral purposes, including the Goa elections.

Responding to Kejriwal’s plea, the ED defended its actions in court, stating that no special standards were required to arrest a Chief Minister for money laundering. The agency argued that treating politicians differently from ordinary criminals would violate the constitution.

The affidavit also highlighted Kejriwal’s alleged non-cooperative attitude and blatant disregard for the law, which, according to the ED, justified his arrest. The agency further accused Kejriwal of using his position to facilitate the offence of money laundering.

Kejriwal’s arrest has sparked a heated debate, with the AAP labeling the ED as a “lie machine” and alleging political vendetta. However, the ED stands firm on its allegations, asserting that evidence points to Kejriwal’s direct involvement in the scam.

The case has garnered significant attention, with both supporters and critics closely watching the developments as they unfold. As the legal battle continues, the spotlight remains on Kejriwal and the allegations against him, shaping the political landscape in Delhi and beyond.
