Crew, the latest con comedy directed by Rajesh A Krishnan, continues to soar at the box office as it enters its second day. Following a successful opening, the film, starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon, has maintained its momentum, raking in a commendable ₹9.6 crore on its second day, according to reports from Sacnilk. With this, the film has now amassed a total of ₹18.85 crore.

The storyline of Crew revolves around the lives of three friends employed as cabin crew members for Kohinoor Airlines. Their tranquil existence takes a dramatic turn when they find themselves entangled in a precarious situation, leading to a series of comedic escapades. Alongside the trio of leading ladies, Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma also play significant roles in this chick flick.

Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the remarkable box office performance of Crew on its opening day. He expressed astonishment at the film’s reception, stating, “#Crew pulls off the BIGGEST SURPRISE of 2024… Smashes ALL pre-release predictions by a wide margin… Silences ALL pessimists who doubted/undermined its #BO potential… Fri ₹10.28 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice.”

He further emphasized the significance of the film’s strong start, especially considering its competition with the Hollywood blockbuster, Godzilla vs. Kong. Adarsh noted that the favorable opening, bolstered by the Good Friday holiday, has set high expectations for the film’s weekend performance.

However, not all reviews have been glowing for Crew. Saibal Chatterjee, a film critic at NDTV, awarded the film a modest 2 out of 5 stars. In his assessment, he acknowledged director Rajesh A. Krishnan’s transition from streaming platforms to theatrical releases, drawing comparisons between Crew and Krishnan’s previous work, Lootcase. Despite their shared absurdist themes, Chatterjee noted a disparity in scale and ambition between the two films, while also highlighting Crew’s commentary on economic disparities.

As Crew continues its journey at the box office, audiences eagerly await to see whether its comedic charm and star-studded cast will propel it to greater heights in the days to come. With its intriguing storyline and stellar performances, the film promises to be a delightful addition to the cinematic landscape of 2024
